Overview

Our CHC33021 – Certificate 3 in Individual Support runs in Ascotvale and is designed for those wanting to help care and support vulnerable people that need assistance. To be a cert 3 individual support worker, you should possess a sense of compassion and empathy with strong communication skills that will allow you to make that vital connection with those you will be taking care of. Our Cert III Individual Support course has been designed to suit the Ageing and Disability streams. It can be referred to by industry as your certificate 3 in aged care. Whilst completing your Certificate 3 in Individual Support or after completion of the aged care course in Ascotvale you may wish to undertake further aged care short courses such as palliative care, medication, and infection control.

General Eligibility Criteria:

  1. Evidence of citizenship/residency, you must be either:
    • an Australian citizen;
    • a holder of a permanent visa; or
    • a New Zealand citizen
  2. You can enrol in a maximum of 2 funded qualifications and
    2 funded skills sets in one year
  3. You can undertake up to 2 funded programs at one time
  4. You must not be enrolled in school (including government, non-government, independent, Catholic or home school or the Commonwealth SEE program). University is OK!

Material Fees

Material fees are not charged if you select digital materials. Paper resources can only be selected if you are joining a classroom based delivery of your course. If you are enrolling in a blended/online course you will automatically receive digital resources. Material fees are inclusive of GST and are only applicable for paper resources.

Recommended 15 hours of self-paced learning per week
120 hours of direct support work in an aged care facility are required. This allows MCFE to observe your interactions with a variety of clients, as specified in the qualification requirements.

This training is delivered with Victorian and Commonwealth Government funding. The course fees/costs depend upon eligibility for a Government subsidy, via the Skills First Funding Program.  Using a funded place can affect your access to future funding.
