SELF-PACED LEARNING
Our Early Childhood Education and Care courses requires you to complete 16 hours per week of self-paced learning. Below is an outline of each module for our course with the required readings and videos that need to be reviewed. Some of these readings relate to questions in your assessment and others help you to consolidate and strengthen your knowledge from the face to face session. The resources are divided into the following sections:
Group 1: Working with children
Group 2: Caring for children
CERT III Group 3: Growing and learning– this is for students enrolled at the Certificate III level.
DIPLOMA Group 3: Supporting Children’s Development – this is for students enrolled at the Diploma level.
DIPLOMA Group 4: Leaders in Childcare – this is for students enrolled at the Diploma level.
The self-paced learning is broken up into 3 sections:
Read are articles, information sheets, handbooks and web pages that have been created by industry experts and governing bodies.
Watch is a selection of videos from around the world that give you allow you to take the information in visually and allow you to see practices being implemented in the workplace.
Review is where you go over the end of chapter questions for your text book reading and look into the same documents each week but specify it to the topic you are currently reading about. For example; if you are completing self-paced learning for Caring for Children module, you would review the Guide to the National Quality Framework in relation to caring for children, toileting, transitions, new arrivals and preparing children for change.
