Theory Class: 24th April

Refresher training involves attending only theory session of our 2 day traffic course. Prior to starting the course, you will need to supply your current traffic control card to our head office, so we can confirm refresher training is the most appropriate option for you.

Those participating in refresher training must still complete the practical assessment, however this can be completing in your own workplace. Your employer and supervisor must sign off on 3 traffic management plans you have implemented at your workplace. MCFE will then contact your employer to verify details.

Once you have enrolled in the course, the practical assessment will be emailed to you so you can complete it prior to attending the theory session.

Where are classes held?

Our main training is held at 9 Tuscan Court, Thomastown, but we also consider where majority of the students have to travel from. We try to group people from the same location together and hire out venues that are closer to home making it easier for you to travel to. The exact location of the classes will be confirmed once you talk to a representative of Melbourne College of Further Education (MCFE).

What are the practical requirements?

To complete these units you are required to participate in three (3) live traffic projects, one involving construction vehicles. Our course includes a practical training workshop, giving you ‘On Road’ experience increasing your employment opportunities.

After the theory portion of the traffic control course you can either complete this through work experience with a traffic control company or with MCFE at our Practical Training facility.

What do I need to bring with me?

You will need to bring a drivers licence or passport with you for proof of identity and your Unique Student Identifier (USI). If you do not have a USI, we can assist you in creating one.

When does my traffic control card expire?

Your units do not expire however you are required to undertake refresher training every 3 years as per government and industry requirements.

A valid Traffic Controller’s Statement of Attainment must be carried at all times when operating as a Traffic Controller. This certification must be presented immediately to any Police Officer, Worksafe Officer, VicRoads Officer or Worksite Supervisor upon request.

When will I get my certificate?

You will receive a statement of attainment within 10 business days of your final assessment, providing any outstanding fees are paid in full and your Unique Student Identifier (USI) has been provided and verified.

Can we do group training in the workplace?

We currently undertake group training in the workplace and are happy to work with employers and companies to put together a training schedule. Please note that there must be a minimum of 10 people in the class. Group quotes are available on request.
